WE BELIEVE THAT GUN FIT IS A CRUCIAL FACTOR IF YOU WANT TO GET THE VERY BEST OUT OF YOUR CLAY OR GAME SHOOTING.
Most competent shots can pick a gun off the rack and the general fit will be fairly close to their requirements, but for a small investment and professional advice, it really is a worthwhile investment to take your shooting to the highest level with no compromise.
HOW A GUN FITTING SESSION WORKS
Gun fit is best achieved by using a Try-Gun on the ranges and on our pattern plate. A Try-Gun is fully adjustable for all stock dimensions including comb height, trigger pull distance, cast of the stock and the various lengths – from butt to trigger and palm swell to trigger.
Once the try-gun has been initially fitted you can try the gun for its initial fit. You will mount the try-gun into the shoulder multiple times, so any poor fitting components can be noted and adjusted. We will then look directly down the barrels to check the cast and comb height. Once the adjustments appear to suit, the gun can then be tried out on the pattern plate.
Once all finer adjustments have been made and they have been proven on the pattern plate we will then move you to a stand to shoot a variety of clays.
Once satisfied all adjustments are recorded as measurements, which are then given to the gunsmith to create a new made-to-measure gun or, if you are buying a second hand or off the shelf gun, to alter the cast, stock length, trigger or comb to suit. Once a new or adjusted gun is returned from the gunsmith it is important to try it out again – on the pattern plate and also over various targets, to familiarise yourself with how the gun feels and shoots.
A one hour gun fit session using our try-guns and pattern plate costs £100, plus clays and cartridges. We have Over and Under, Side by Side and Trap try guns available.
